Christmas Shopping Weekend!

Country Living Christmas Fair 2011

Here is a sneak peak at my stand for this years Country Living Christmas Fair. Once we had painted, drilled, carried a million boxes and got all my stock in place we could then begin to enjoy the Country Living experience. It did feel a bit like moving house! I have been collecting props and furniture since the beginning of this year, I now love visiting antique markets and it was lovely to see it all come together. My sheep have all found new homes and I am now creating a new flock. Thank you to everyone that came along, it was lovely to see you all.

Some of you may know I illustrate a monthly short story for Your Cat Magazine . As I love cats, I always look forward to receiving the next short story. I am very lucky to have my own model Philip (my cat) who helps me with these illustrations! Above you will see some of my latest illustrations. The bottom story was very atmospheric about a couple of ghost cats by the novelist Kate Johnson. I grew up in a house with a ghost cat, although I never saw it, I always found it intriguing that other people did!

Last weekend was my birthday and what better way to celebrate it than to go on a llama trek in the Herefordshire countryside! It couldn't have been a more special day with friends and family all being brought together by lovely animals in beautiful scenery. I think I am a secret wannabe farmer at heart and it was such a perfect birthday :)

We had great fun using props I had collected from antique markets and also used a little apple tree in my garden as a backdrop. Clare has an amazing eye for detail and colour and is great fun to work with. Collier Campbell Exhibition

I recently went to a lovely exhibition at the National Gallery celebrating the first 50 years of the Collier Campbell sisters. It was amazing seeing their work in real life and the beautiful patterns and sketchbooks. An art teacher I had when I was younger often talked about how she used to work for the sisters when they produced prints for Liberty, so I was intrigued to see the exhibition. I came away feeling fully inspired. The exhibition is now over but more work can be seen on their website.

I recently went to the Dulwich Open Studios. It was lovely to come across the work of Margarita Lorenzo who is the designer behind chocolatecreative. I love her cushions and tealight holders. I was also lucky enough to meet her sweet cat Missi! You can see more of her lovely products on her online shop. I also saw Sally Nencini's wonderful knitted cushions and toys and passed a very pretty gate that I would like to have in my own house!

Some pictures I took at the Magic Show talk and tea party last week. I created some magic flying animal cushions for the exhibition and wall stickers which turned into hanging mobiles. Also at the exhibition was Sarah Ray's wonderful Barbara on her magic carpet, Ruth Green's beautiful paintings, Kate Hindley's lovely wooden birds and Mina Braun's fabulous prints and many other magic pieces created by Girls Who Draw. At the V&A Museum Of Childhood

I had a great time at It's Your Write at the V&A Museum Of Childhood last night organised by The Papered Parlour. There was the worlds largest knitted poem at the entrance. My friend Katriona Chapman also had a stall there, I love her Beautiful Birds colouring book. Zeena Shah was taking a statement badge making workshop and I also took part in making a zine organised by Alternative Press, distributed at the end of the night. I had a little look at all the wonderful things in the muesum and came across some lovely toys and the most amazing chair! The cat chair was made by Gerard Rigot.

The illustration collective I am a part of Girls Who Draw will be putting on a Magic Show as part of the limited edition postcard book, available in my shop. We have interpreted the theme of magic and created new work especially for the exhibition. Solihull Gallery 04 April - 11 June 2011.
I will also be taking part in an event organised by The Papered Parlour called 'It's Your Write! A Celebration Of The Self Published'. It will be held at The V&A Museum of Childhood. There will be a market featuring 20 self-publishers and artists plus workshops, live music and performances. Thursday 7th April 6pm - 9pm.

I recently lost my camera but found it again last night, I was so happy to find it, I didn't realise how lost I would feel without a camera! On it were some photos I took of the last craft market I took part in at Cabbages & Kings, Stoke Newington. I also met the wonderful Heart Zeena, I love her cushions of owls and birds so much so that I had to get one. Above is Philip modeling his new cushion which Zeena tells me is called Fred. I recently created an activity book for Gateshead Council. The book has activities and information to help children understand what can be recycled and to reduce the amount of rubbish that goes to landfill. I really enjoyed working on this book and it was great to be involved in the design process. The book also comes with some crayons and a puzzle.

Coffee and Cake

I went to Scooterworks cafe in London, near Waterloo last weekend to meet up with some lovely illustrators. I love the work of Lisa Evans, Anna Wadham and Katriona Chapman and it was great to catch up with them, not sure if Lisa realised there were some hearts coming out of her head! Scooterworks is one of my favourite cafes in London. It is decorated with retro vespa signs and a few scooters dotted around. They serve delicious coffee and also have two resident cats which I adore that like to stroll around the cafe and if you are lucky they may come and take a seat next to you!

Wedding Design

It is beginning to feel like a while ago now but I wanted to do a post on our wedding that was in July this year. I loved organising it and creating all the stationary, there was a peacock theme that appeared on most of the stationary. We also named the tables after Greek Gods. Indigo and plum colours made up our colour themes, I love sweet pea colours so I based our colour palette on that. I also loved finding out about flowers something I have little knowledge on! I wanted the flowers to be full of my favourite colours from dusky pinks to indigos. We had little lavender pots for our favours and we decorated the beautiful barn with big paper lanterns, which looked amazing and really brightened up the space.
